For two of the boats in attendance this was their first Sail in the UK after being delivered last week. Saturdays racing delivered a force four gusting six to welcome them home.

Russ Hopkins sailed excellently to lead the fleet home from start to finish in the first race of the day. New class member Paul Smalley came home second and Charlie Chandler limped home in third. With the breeze continuing to build all further racing was cancelled for the day.

Sunday dawned slightly lighter allowing the race officer to complete four races. A three-boat match race ensued between Hopkins, Smalley and Chandler with positions changing or reversing on every leg.

Chandler managed to squeeze into first place by the end of all four races, sometimes only 200 yards from the finish and took the overall win. Second and third was split between Hopkins and Smalley in every race with Hopkins taking second overall and Smalley third.

Jon Hammond showed great pace upwind on the Sunday to threaten the leading three before having to retire when his main halyard came uncleated - that will teach him to check that it is properly cleated in the future! Also great effort by the new D-One owners who battled through some testing conditions. The Class Association thanks Noble Marine for its support.
